Since Valentines Day, as you know, is coming up, I've been thinking. To me, it's always been one of those days where disaster strikes all those loved ones and those perfect couples. Maybe that's because I've never experienced it myself--with a true boyfriend. I don't know.
But this year, I'm gonna try to focus on the good stories, the successful ones, and bring them to the light. I'm going to take a break from everything I do--school, writing, band--and just make sure every story gets written down.
Personally, I'm gonna get one of my girlies to be my valentine just for fun, and as friends (I have nothing against lesbians, I just am not one myself) and we're gonna have a fun time. Well, besides the fact that I'll be gone half the day on a band field trip. But we'll have fun besides that.
Anyways, time to get to the point of this post:
What is Love?
Love can be many things. It can be a strong connection between you and a friend. It can be a weird attachment to some object. Or it can even be a relationship, between you and your boy/girlfriend.
But it is so much more than that.
It is what keeps this world spinning--the ability to love. It is what breaks us apart, but it is also what brings us together, and keeps us together.
Without love we would be nothing. So now you sorta see why I am gonna focus on the successful relationships this special holiday, celebrating love, and I invite you to join me. Just make sure you have a lot of fun :)

Mercenary Groups and More
Today I added a mercenary group to my story. My main character reacted how everyone else would if someone demanded your purse or wallet in modern-day crime: like, are you real?
It got me thinking.
Of course, a lot of people know that crime and theives are out there, but until something happens to you that has to do with it, it doesn't cross your mind that something like that could happen to you, and their only a story that, to other people, is more than just a story.
I find that interesting. People can be so naive and self-contained that they don't notice things like that. I suppose I'm like that too. We are, after all, only human.
But as a writer, and someday author, I'm supposed to grab things like that and bring it to the light. I'm thinking in this story I'm going to stress the importance of the mercenary group to get the gears in human's mind turning, and hopefully they'll spread the news as well.
Again, we'll have to see how this goes. It's certainly going to be an interesting ride until I reach the end--if there is one.

Getting Lucky
You might say I'm an unlucky writer. I have many flaws in my writing (and I'm not speaking about grammatical and spelling issues), and normally after the beginning my story turns to mush. It doesn't matter how good of a story line I have planned out. I believe it's because my characters are always sort of undefined, even in my cluttered mind.
This time I'm hoping, praying, begging for a better journey this time around, modeling my characters on real people so they'll seem truer to both me and the reader.
And so far, I have been successful. 2,000 words in, and still going strong with creativity. Imogene has finished her engagement party, after having to deny some hitters of herself and preventing a couple disasters. She's everything a woman back in the olden days of England would want to be: wearing exactly what she wants, rarely regarding the rules of a 'propper' woman, and carrying both a gun and knife at all times; even under a dress. I love her.
We'll have to see how beautiful she turns out *winks*

A New Beginning
Yesterday I started a new story. I was sitting in my red recliner, getting ready for a new story after just finishing one of my stories, and the idea came to me.
For the rest of the night, I was jotting down ideas getting ready for this new idea. Lots of research was involved. And my family got mad at me for staying up so later. But it didn't matter, because now I had a new idea; something that might someday be ready for publishing in the future.
Since then, I have been hard at work, getting a firm starting, and making every word after that perfect as well. Details have almost always been hard for me before, but with this once it seemed to come more naturally than before. Dialogue comes easily too; another thing I always seem to have trouble with.
And my favorite part? My characters so far have a strong voice, not making me guess what they'll end up being like, and not making me fight to find out what they are supposed to say. They're leading the story, like true characters, and it makes me feel like a true writer for once. Someone who could make it in the long run.
I suppose we'll have to wait and see. :)
